The Monmouth County Vocational School District (MCVSD) was created in 1958 to provide career and technical education (CTE) to the county's residents. From its inception, it has focused on providing students with the skills and experience necessary to be ready for college and careers. It is supported by the Monmouth County Vocational School District Board of Education and the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to prepare students for an evolving workplace, lifelong learning, and further education through specialized academics, career and technical programs, and the achievement of the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.
Career Academies
Today, MCVSD has six nationally recognized full-time Career Academies that educate students around a particular theme:
Biotechnology High School: Hands-on experience in cutting-edge laboratory techniques.
Marine Academy of Science and Technology: Unique opportunities for fieldwork in local marine environments.
High Technology High School: Advanced engineering concepts and practical applications.
The Academy of Allied Health & Science: Preparation for careers in the health sciences.
The Academy of Law & Public Safety: Training in public safety and criminal justice.
Communications High School: Focus on media, journalism, and communication technologies.
Shared-Time Programs
Our shared-time programs offer students the flexibility to pursue career-ready trades such as automotive technology, culinary arts, and information technology, providing them with valuable skills and industry certifications.
Special Education Programs
The Monmouth County Career Center offers specialized career and technical education programs tailored to meet the needs of special education students, helping them develop practical skills and gain independence.
Adult Education Programs
Our Adult Education program includes a comprehensive Licensed Practical Nursing course, a Cosmetology program, and apprenticeship opportunities that connect learners with local industries.
Community and Partnerships
MCVSD collaborates with local businesses and higher education institutions to provide students with internships, mentorships, and pathways to further education and employment.
