Five of Monmouth County Vocational School District’s Career Academies rank among the top 20 schools in the state in SAT scores, according to the latest data. Having one-quarter of the top-performing high schools in terms of SAT results is a testament to MCVSD’s Career Academy experience and the engagement and commitment of the students who enroll.
High Technology High School (#2), Biotechnology High School (#4), Academy of Allied Health & Science (#7), Marine Academy of Science & Technology (#15) and Communications High School (#19) made the list.
MCVSD Superintendent Charles R. Ford Jr., Ed.D. said the results indicate the caliber of students who attend the district’s four-year, full-time Career Academies and the high level of instruction that MCVSD teachers provide for students.
“I am impressed on a daily basis by what our students across our many programs can accomplish, and this is just the latest example,” Dr. Ford said. “I am even more proud of how our teachers and educators prepare students for the challenges of college and career with innovative programs that combine rigorous academics with research and unique experiences that give our students a significant head start on their professional journeys.
“I also want to recognize the many excellent schools in Monmouth County that help prepare our students for success. We could not do it without their hard work and we share this achievement with them.”
MCVSD’s Career Academies offer motivated students who already have a high level of interest in a subject area the opportunity to focus their learning alongside peers who share similar ambitions. MCVSD also offers more than 15 Shared Time career programs ranging from construction trades and culinary arts to health occupations and mechanical engineering.
