The Floriculture Class is a program designed to train students in the fields of Floral Design and Greenhouse Management. The Floriculture class is divided into two separate areas, Floral Design and Greenhouse Plants/ Ecology. These areas include floral design, flower shop maintenance, retail sales, greenhouse plants, interiorscaping and environmental awareness. All students will learn in both areas. Future careers can also include supermarket floral departments, garden centers, event planning, nurseries, farmers' markets, and garden design.

Floriculture curriculum includes:

  • Corsage Design

  • Floral Designs for Special Occasions such as centerpieces, bouquets and vases

  • Conditioning Fresh Flowers

  • Cut Flower Identification, Care and Use

  • Customer Service

  • Wedding Work

  • Designing with Silk Flowers

  • Marketing and Pricing Flowers and Plants

  • Interior Plant Design and Maintenance

  • Managing and Maintaining the Greenhouse

  • Greenhouse Plant Products such as dish gardens, terrariums, and topiary

  • Plant Identification, Growth and Care such as tropicals, cacti and succulents, flowering plants, and annuals/perennials

  • Seasonal Plant Products such as outdoor planters and wreaths

  • Garden Design and Environmental Awareness
